About the venue
HISTORY OF ICE RINK
The first ice rink of skating club Mlada Boleslav was located in park Stepanky where you can find tennis courts now. At the year 1956 new ice rink with european dimensions of 30x60 meters was bulit on the actual place by the river Klenice. Originaly the ice rink was outdoor with tribunes and artificial ice. First hockey match was played in November 26, 1956. In seventies the ice rink was reconstructed and new tribune for 1010 sitting fans was built. Finaly on October 2, 1980 the ice rink got roof and the capacity of seats increased to 2372.
In the middle of 90´s another modernization was made specialy on the indoor part of the stadion. Second indoor ice rink with canadian dimensions was built behind this stadion, hotel was built and new restaurant with nice view on the ice. Nowadays almost all (total 2208) places are for seating, except north tribune. Ice rink in Mlada Boleslav belong to moder stadions in the Czech republic. It is appreciated also by local first league hockey team. Every year since 1998 czech nationa hockey team plays „friendly match“. They also played aginst Russia, Canada, Norway or Switzerland here.
Since 2002 short track speed skating events are held here. World Cup Short Track was held here in 2004.
